Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Accession Certificate and the Advanced Certificate?
After a positive assessment of the implementation plan for the selected measures and the auditor's final report by the Audit Board, the organisation is awarded the "Socially Responsible Employer" accession certificate. Once the accession certificate has been obtained, an annual assessment is carried out to determine whether the selected measures have been implemented in accordance with the implementation plan. If the objectives have been achieved, the organisation is awarded the 'Socially Responsible Employer' (SRE) Advanced Certificate. Depending on the quality of the activities implemented, the Advanced Certificate is divided into three levels: Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3.
Is the certificate also suitable for smaller companies and public organisations?
Yes, the certificate is suitable for any organisation that employs at least five (5) employees and complies with applicable labour legislation, regardless of legal form, size, nature of business or organisation.
When can a company apply for certification?
Companies or organisations can apply at any time during the calendar year. If a company or organisation wishes to be certified through the European Social Fund, there is funding available for 200 applicants in the period January 2020-September 2022. Funding is available until the places for the funding quota in a given year are filled.
Does the company need to have a CSR strategy in place before applying?
No, because through an internal advisory and audit process, we look at what is already being done in the organisation in this area, where there is room for improvement and make a plan for the way forward.
Can the certificate be revoked?
Yes, the applicable Rules and Procedure provide that a company's certificate may be withdrawn in the event of non-compliance. Reasons for withdrawal include, for example, bankruptcy of the company, final conviction for systemic violation of applicable labour legislation, failure to comply with reporting deadlines, etc.
Who decides whether a company is awarded the certificate?
The award of the certificate is decided by the Board of Statutory Auditors, a professional and independent body, on a proposal from the auditor. The role of the Board of Auditors is to examine the required documentation and to give a final opinion on the applicant's eligibility for certification.
Where can I complain if I think the certificate holder is not implementing the certificate or is breaching employment law?
